Grant Me Justice’s Uplift and Unwind Men’s Retreat: A Weekend of Healing and Brotherhood

Writer: Felecia MarshallFelecia Marshall

On September 20-21, Grant Me Justice (GMJ) hosted an incredible Uplift and Unwind Men’s Retreat. This two-day event was all about relaxation, reflection, and recharging spirits. Held in a farmhouse nestled in the peaceful setting of rural Bentonia, Missississippi, the retreat was led by Elbert McGowan, Jr., Pastor of Redeemer Church, and Brandon Henry, Owner and Therapist at Red River Counseling.

A Weekend to Remember

The retreat brought together a diverse group of men, all looking for a bit of peace and support. Pastor Elbert and Brandon guided the men through times of thoughtful intimacy through the scriptures that were both healing and uplifting.

Workshops and Activities

They dove into sessions that focused on healing, personal growth, and building a sense of brotherhood. Pastor Elbert’s talks were full of spiritual wisdom and encouragement, while Brandon’s sessions gave practical tools to handle grief and stress.

Fishing and Fellowship

One of the best parts of the retreat was the chance to relax by the water. The men spent time fishing, which was not only super relaxing but also a great way to bond with each other. The calm environment and shared experiences helped them form strong connections and create lasting memories.

A Community of Support

The Uplift and Unwind Men’s Retreat was more than just a getaway; it was a powerful reminder of the importance of community and self-care. Everyone left feeling refreshed, supported, and more connected.

Looking Ahead

Grant Me Justice is dedicated to continuing its mission of supporting those affected by homicide. The success of this retreat shows just how impactful compassionate care and community can be in the healing process.

A huge thank you to Pastor Elbert and Brandon and all the amazing men who made this retreat so special. We can’t wait to host more events that uplift and empower our community.
