Alexia’s Story
The life that started a movement.
On March 14, 2017, our founder, Felecia Marshall, experienced every parent’s worst nightmare when her daughter, Alexia “Lexi B” Buckhalter, was murdered.
In the days and months that followed, grief became intertwined with court hearings, investigations, unanswered questions, and a criminal justice system that was difficult to navigate. Like so many surviving families, she discovered that while there were agencies to investigate the crime, there were very few people prepared to walk alongside the family.
She often found herself asking…
Lexi’s life was filled with love, compassion, laughter, and generosity. Even after her death, her legacy continues to inspire hope for other families experiencing unimaginable loss.
Today, every family we serve carries a reminder that that their loved one matters, their story matters, and they do not have to walk this journey alone.
What began as one mother’s determination to help another family has become a movement rooted in compassion, justice, and hope.
Our History
From one family’s grief to a
community of hope.
Following years of navigating the criminal justice system and supporting other grieving families informally, Felecia recognized the need for an organization dedicated specifically for families impacted by homicide.
In 2021, Grant Me Justice was officially established to bridge the gap between tragedy and healing by providing compassionate advocacy, practical support, and a community of people who understand the lifelong impact of violent loss.
Since then, Grant Me Justice has grown into one of Mississippi’s leading survivor-centered organizations, serving families through:
